In His Own Words, A Q&A with Albert Jing

30 September 2024

What do you think is the biggest issue facing the country at the moment?

Most definitely it is the cost of living crisis that is affecting a broad cross-section of our society. It is the first priority on our policies list and it will be resolved in two parts – first an immediate metaphorical painkiller within the first 100 days of assuming office that will see Australians feel a real difference and relief, and then a real cure to the underlying inflationary problems that will likely take up to a year or more to fix. The latter is linked to the fact that past governments have increased the money supply far too much or put bluntly, printed too much money, to fund their expenditures especially since 2019 and 2020. This has to be stopped as part of prudent economic management. The four prongs of the plan to fixing the cost of living crisis are well detailed in our policies document.

On the cost of living problem, I would like to add with emphasis the futile and incorrect approach taken by the RBA in continually raising interest rates that has significantly hurt families and those with mortgages, who make up close to 40% of Australian households per the ABS stats. The increased loan service costs and interest payments on mortgages are much higher in absolute and relative terms as a proportion of a household’s income compared to the items such as groceries which may be slightly cheaper due to the RBA’s contractionary monetary policy — a bunch of bananas or bag of $100 groceries for example is a much smaller cost than say a $3000 monthly mortgage repayment. This means the RBA’s aim of reducing inflation as measured by the CPI which does not include the higher mortgage interest costs, is actually backfiring and missing the mark completely, making cost of living much worse. Also, seemingly lowered inflation as measured by CPI and current RBA thinking, doesn’t account for the realities that households can substitute a cheaper brand or item for a more expensive brand, whereas they cannot substitute out of their monthly mortgage repayments. Overall the RBA approach has been like trying to plug a small hole in a sinking boat by removing a much bigger chunk of the boat to form the materials needed to plug the small hole and thus in the process making the boat overall much more damaged. The RBA is not itself responsible for the initial inflation, but its wrong approach in trying to fix the problem has made the problem much worse. A new government under my leadership will put an immediate end to this.

Why does the nation need change right now?

The call for real change to our political system has echoed across many parts of our society, by our people from many different walks of life. I think it comes from first a personal suffering under the current economic situation, cost of living issues, social problems and then the intelligence of the Australian people to realise that we can definitely do better in terms of how the country is run.

True to the decency of the Australian people, and our character as a people, there is also a concern for others, and seeing friends or other families suffering unnecessarily again creates a view that things need to change.

Australians I think inherently feel and understand that the calibre of many career politicians is unfortunately low, and they don’t have the ability to solve the real problems but instead misplace resources and attention on things which don’t actually matter. The voices and thoughts of many everyday Australians has been ignored and their needs unmet. The people are dissatisfied and disaffected with the political situation. Hence the call and now strong need for change.

How is your leadership and All Australians Party different?

First we need to discuss mindset and will to answer this question well. My mindset, will and intention is to do what is best for the Australian people and perform great deeds as part of that process. So we see a coinciding and alignment of my personal values and drives, with what is actually needed in a great leader for a country during a time of duress. I have no intentions of being a petty politician telling continuous lies or excuses simply to hold onto some office. I am no career politician. Political leadership for me is a means to an end, it is not the end in itself. The end being the prosperity, security, fairness and achievements of an individual, people, organisation and nation.

Whereas I believe what has gone wrong in a lot of western societies nowadays, with Australia being a clear example, is that holding onto the political office is the end, and performing deeds for the benefit of the people has become only a means, if not something completely forgotten about.

From there with the intention fixed correctly, as in the context of a real leader or statesman, we can then talk about the actual plans, policies, and execution of plans to achieve a desired outcome. In this, the All Australians Party is clearly different from other parties as our plans and policies are designed to benefit all citizens within Australia. The policies and plans are also rooted in visionary thinking with very high standards, combined with pragmatism in working towards its realisation all at the same time. Whereas past or recent political plans in this country, if we can call them that, have seemed to have lacked both vision or courage in what is aimed for, and in merely striving for some low hanging fruit or easy target still missed at that.

We can then turn to the character of the team and party which is very different from what has existed recently in Australia. We are obviously new and representative of change, energetic, willing to take bold actions, and probably a lot younger in age too. Coming from outside the usual political bubble or ‘canberra bubble’ as Australians like to call it, means we can bring fresh approaches to problem solving and relate better. We have also as many Australians like to call it in this context, worked in ‘real jobs’.

Finally I personally founded and built up this Party, and as its leader can make strong decisions that benefit the people of Australia without having to answer to other hidden internal or external forces that often surreptitiously control the old political parties. As leader of the All Australians Party, I have the will, power and autonomy to take the actions that are most needed right now.

But most importantly, what sets us apart will be the actual results. With Australians as reasonable and intelligent people, I think following the long periods of ineffectiveness and ill-conceived policies as many Australians have described, giving a new determined leader like myself and my party a few short years to prove ourselves, will be more than a fair bet against this backdrop of political and economic darkness.

What is your long-term vision for Australia and what do you think Australia is capable of achieving?

My long-term vision for our country is one where all citizens enjoy an exceptionally high standard of living, prosperity, security, education and health. That our laws and society are fair and just for all. That the overall character of our people is on the correct side of virtue. That our national strength and prestige reaches unprecedented heights as we realise our potential and work together as one united country and people. This will take some time but we are a young country and what we can achieve in the future is not limited by what has been done in the past. I believe in the ability of the Australian people and our relatively smaller population is no bar to greatness.

What are your views on Australia’s foreign policy?

It’s a very important aspect of leadership that needs to be conducted with wisdom and foresight. Our foreign policies should be based on the foundations of building up our country’s strength internally first, almost in a low-key, quiet but sure manner, both economically and militarily. Then our foreign policies whether they are pacifist and humanitarian in nature, or more assertive in standing our ground on certain matters will be based on a position of strength and substance, rather than empty rhetoric. War should only ever be entered into as a last resort and be viewed as a means to a lasting peace — that usually comes about only if there is a fair degree of magnanimity on the part of the victor. But we need to always be militarily well prepared and that’s something my policies will rapidly ensure.

I believe relations and diplomacy with other countries should be conducted based upon a few principles, with those being of fairness, trust, mutual benefit and mutual respect. That is of course an ideal standard, but a capable leader should be able to work with any situation and still ensure the interests of his nation are protected or advanced whilst still doing what’s fair by the other party.

I believe it would be in Australia’s best interests to maintain positive foreign relations with both our longtime ally the United States and our largest economic trading partner China, at the same time. I don’t consider the two to be mutually exclusive, although it does require much more skill in leadership to achieve this given the current tensions between the US and China. But again, in order to ensure our autonomy and freedom of movement in foreign affairs as to act in the best interests of Australia long-term, we must first build up our economic and military strength.

On a personal level as a leader and speaker you have been described as being very confident, eloquent and charismatic, what would you say makes you so?

I guess I can speak from the heart as well as the mind, and that can be felt by others who are of that same resonance and feeling. I also voice what I believe to be true and I can speak that truth with conviction supported by deep knowledge of the subject matter. I am genuine in my feelings.

Also, I’ve always been able to connect very well with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, ages, races, men and women, advantaged and not so advantaged, so that sincere connection again helps with mutual communication I think. It links back with the very central idea of the All Australians Party, a party that can lead for all peoples.

For Australians wanting to contribute to your movement or support you in your mission what can they do?

Of course, for Australians looking to support they can sign up as a general member of the party through our main website. This gives them priority access to information and privileges. For those skilled Australians, especially those who are looking to really accelerate their careers and make a meaningful impact, becoming a general member is a first step towards applying for a working position within the party.

Those looking to support us through volunteering can also do so through signing up on our website eventually. We would be very grateful for Australians’ support in donating to our cause which can be done through our website, this will help us build up our organisation. It’s important and helps us maintain our autonomy as representatives of the people.

Lastly, it’s uncommon for high-achieving professionals like CEOs, lawyers and now Leader of a political party, to also excel in sports at a competitive level, any particular insights or plans regarding your swimming?

I definitely haven’t retired from competitive swimming even though I haven’t been training seriously since around late 2020, I was in good form that year having completed many quality back-to-back blocks of work. OneFriends was also just launching publicly that year so I had some more time for swimming. At the moment I’m swimming about 3 times per week plus doing 2 gym sets per week mainly to maintain fitness, strength and power. Physical fitness is important also for supporting mental performance. I still have a lot of love for my sport and my craft. As with most dedicated and high performing swimmers, the goal is to perform well at an Olympics. Judging from what has worked well and not so well in the past, I’d say I need about 14 to 18 months of serious and focused training to get to my absolute best — not less or more than that. Given all the factors in training, environment, motivation which need to align for a peak performance, it’s hard for me to give a definite answer right now. My focus for the past few years has been on OneFriends, and now obviously the All Australians Party and national leadership. I was though highly impressed and emotionally moved to see the Greco-Roman wrestler Mijain Lopez win a fifth straight Olympic gold medal at age 41 in Paris 2024.
